The Finishing Academy of Ireland are delighted to introduce to you, Knitwear designer Eva Kavanagh.
Dubbed to be the next “Yoga”, knitting has seen an exciting revival of late. With Irish designers including Lorna Doone & Lainey Keogh dominating the Irish and international fashion scene, knitwear has moved on from the granny image it once had, even models have been seen backstage at London Fashion week taking up the new craze! There is a huge revival under way so don’t think for one moment that this course is just for grandmothers. People of all ages are clicking away in bars, cafes and even on the luas!
Traditional crafts such as knitting, sewing and crocheting are staging a comeback of gargantuan proportions, with celebrities from Julia Roberts to George Clooney being spotted toting knitting needles alongside their Blackberry handhelds. It’s simple and peaceful, hip and happening! There’s a huge interest in doing something for yourself. it’s very satisfying to be able to wear your own design.
In a fun atmosphere you will learn the fundamentals of knitting. This course offers an innovative approach to hand knit design. Traditional and experimental techniques will be used to help you produce knitted textiles for fashion or as artwork pieces in their own right. This course is suitable for both the beginner and the experienced knitter seeking a new challenge.
If you are interested in knitting Eva Kavanagh has the relevant experience and skills required to help you on your way.
